Kaweco traces its roots to 1883, when the Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik began producing writing instruments in Heidelberg, Germany. The Kaweco name appeared in 1889 after businessmen Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber took over the factory. More than a century later, the brand is best known for the Kaweco Sport, a pocket fountain pen first introduced in 1911. Compact when closed and full-sized with the cap posted, it remains one of the most recognizable designs in the world of fountain pens.

Today, Kaweco makes fountain pens, rollerballs, ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, and clutch pencils in materials ranging from lightweight plastic and aluminum to brass, steel, copper, and ebonite. Many models retain the brand’s distinctive octagonal form, combining historical character with dependable everyday function. The pens are assembled and quality-checked in Nuremberg, with replaceable nibs, refills, clips, and converters that extend their use over time. Practical, portable, and made to last, Kaweco writing instruments bring a long German manufacturing tradition into daily life.
