Description
The Kaweco Original 250 extends the brand’s octagonal pen format into a longer aluminum fountain pen. Its shape draws on Kaweco writing instruments from the late 1950s, combining a faceted cap and barrel with a convex metal grip section.
The body is made from solid aluminum with a matte black anodized finish. Chrome-plated details include the permanently attached pocket clip and the Kaweco medallion set into the cap. At 4.96 inches long and 26 grams, the pen has a noticeable metal feel without the weight of Kaweco’s brass models.
The defining feature of this version is the larger threaded 250 nib. It gives the front of the pen different proportions from the Original 060 and adds three grams to the overall weight. Choose from Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, or Extra Broad. Kaweco recommends Medium for customers who are unsure where to begin.
The stainless steel nib is made in Germany and can be unscrewed and replaced later. Compatible replacement 250 nib units are also used by the Kaweco Supra, making it possible to change the writing width without replacing the complete pen.
Original 250 accepts standard international ink cartridges and comes with one blue cartridge. Its longer barrel also accommodates a full-size Kaweco Standard Converter, sold separately, for filling the pen from bottled ink. A thread in the feed secures the compatible converter inside the front section.
