Description
The Olival Large Vase was created through a collaboration between Bordallo Pinheiro and Esporão, the Portuguese wine and olive oil producer. Drawing on the olive groves of Alentejo, the vase combines a broad, low body with a straight cylindrical neck and an applied olive branch that extends across its surface.
The earthenware body has a glossy turquoise finish that makes the raised decoration especially clear. Green leaves, textured branches, and dark olives are shaped in ceramic relief and painted by hand. The decoration projects from the body rather than appearing as a flat surface pattern, giving the vase a different character from every viewing angle.
Measuring 12.6 inches wide and 8.9 inches high, the vase has enough scale for a dining table, console, mantel, or pedestal. Its wide body carries visual weight even when empty, while the narrower opening can hold branches, leafy stems, or a concentrated floral arrangement.
The vase is made in Portugal from earthenware. Bordallo Pinheiro classifies it as a decorative piece, so it should not be used for serving or storing food. Clean the surface gently by hand, taking particular care around the raised leaves, olives, and branches.
