Introduced in 2025, Shiro 17 Alta raises Antoni Arola’s compact Shiro light on a slender metal structure, turning it into a fixed lamp for paths, terraces, gardens, and outdoor entrances. The broader Shiro family dates to 1998 and was influenced by Japanese architecture, particularly screens that filter light while maintaining a connection between buildings and the landscape.
The light housing measures 6.7 inches square. Horizontal metal slats surround a white translucent diffuser, screening the bulb from direct view and breaking the illumination into soft bands. The lamp is intended to mark a route or define the edge of an outdoor area without producing the glare of an exposed landscape light.
Four narrow supports lift the light housing approximately 24.1 inches above the mounting surface. The complete fixture stands 29.8 inches high and has a matte white-grey finish throughout, allowing the geometric structure to remain visible during the day without introducing a dark or heavy form into the landscape.
Shiro 17 Alta is permanently installed rather than portable. The square mounting plate is secured to a solid surface at four points, with the electrical supply entering through the center of the base. A qualified installer is required, and the power location should be coordinated before paving, decking, or other finished surfaces are completed.
