Description

A round hollow cuts into the square body of the PK Bowl, a black granite decorative bowl designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1963. Its exterior is rough and granular, while the smooth interior catches the light. Four broad corners frame the opening, leaving plenty of stone visible around the curved basin.

The Danish furniture designer developed the bowl from his much larger PK-600 for Fredericia Town Hall. Produced by Architectmade, a Danish home-accessories company, this version is scaled for a desk, console, or side table. Use it to hold keys and other small objects, display a found piece of driftwood, or leave it empty to keep the interior in view.

It measures just under six inches square and weighs approximately six and a half pounds. Sold individually, the PK Bowl makes a substantial gift for someone interested in Danish design or natural stone.
