Description
Penguin arrives in black tie. This wooden penguin figurine has a hand-painted black back that sweeps around a pale beechwood chest, with a slender neck and a long beak pointing upward. The curved boundary between paint and bare wood follows the rounded belly, leaving the grain visible down the front. Danish silversmith and designer Hans Bunde created Penguin in 1954; today, Danish design company Architectmade produces the figure by hand.
Choose Mini, Small, or Large. Mini stands just over five inches tall, making it a compact companion for a desk lamp or a row of paperbacks. Large doubles that height, while Small falls between the two. Arrange different sizes facing one another on a sideboard, or leave a single bird looking out across the room.
Each Penguin is sold individually. It makes a personable housewarming gift for a bird lover or collector of Danish design—and leaves room for a small colony to follow.
