Description
Designed by Claudia Schiffer for Bordallo Pinheiro, the Cloudy Butterflies Vase turns a cream earthenware vessel into a three-dimensional composition of color and movement. The glazed body has softly folded facets, an irregular wavy rim, and a short footed base. Hand-painted butterflies in cobalt blue, turquoise, orange, and pale neutral tones project from the surface.
The butterflies are applied ceramic elements rather than a printed pattern. Some rest close to the body, while others extend outward in profile. As a result, the outline changes from every viewing angle, and the piece remains visually complete without flowers.
All three versions are substantial. The Small measures 12.5 inches wide and works on a dining table, console, or kitchen island. The Large increases the overall width to 14.4 inches and provides more room for a full, loose arrangement. At 17.9 inches wide and almost 14 pounds, the Extra Large is intended for a broad table, large console, pedestal, or other setting with enough clearance around the projecting wings.
Each vase is handcrafted and hand-painted in Portugal, so small differences in color and painted details are part of the production process. The butterflies extend beyond the main body and should be handled carefully when the vase is moved.
Bordallo Pinheiro classifies the vases for decorative use only. They are suitable for floral display but should not be used for serving or storing food. Clean the glazed surface gently by hand, taking particular care around the applied butterflies.
