Description
Designed by Miguel Milá in 1961, the TMM Floor Lamp reduces the lamp to three distinct elements: a wood structure, an electrical assembly, and a drum-shaped shade. The design received the ADI-FAD Critics Award in 1962 and became the first Miguel Milá product reissued by Santa & Cole in 1986.
Its cross-shaped base supports a vertical wood shaft that is square at the bottom and circular above. The change in section allows the shade to rotate and move up or down the upper portion of the lamp. A rubber O-ring holds it at the selected height, avoiding the need for a mechanical adjustment system.
The electrical cord hangs directly from the shade assembly and also operates the lamp. A gentle pull switches the light on or off. The 157.5-inch cord provides enough reach for positioning the lamp beside a sofa, lounge chair, bed, or desk without placing it directly beside an outlet.
The wood structure is available in Beech, Natural Oak, Cherry, Walnut, or Black Oak. Choose a beige or white parchment shade. The white version is also available with a translucent methacrylate upper diffuser, which covers the open top of the shade and should be used only with LED or other energy-saving bulbs.
The US version requires one E26 LED bulb, not included. Santa & Cole currently recommends an 11W bulb producing 1,521 lumens at 2700K. The lamp is UL listed for indoor, dry-location use.
Some assembly is required, and the structure and shade arrive in separate packages. Santa & Cole also offers replacement parchment shades and rubber O-rings, allowing worn or damaged components to be replaced separately.
