Description
This rooster-shaped bottle opener is cast in iron by Sumitani Saburo Shoten, a long-established metal workshop in Takaoka, Japan, active since 1939. The form is slightly more expressive than the rabbit and dog versions, with a raised crest and a longer curve that gives the piece a bit more visual movement without affecting how it works.
The opener has a reassuring weight and a balanced grip, allowing the cap to lift cleanly with minimal effort. Its matte cast surface keeps the object understated, even with the figurative shape. When set down, it rests flat and reads as a small, sculptural tool rather than something decorative for its own sake. Like the other openers in the series, it’s made using traditional casting methods and designed for everyday use. Durable, straightforward, and quietly distinctive. Made in Japan.
