Sunday lunch, the skillet comes off the burner and the table suddenly needs protection. The Hub Trivet is a cork trivet for hot dishes that looks composed even when the rest of the kitchen isn’t.

It’s designed by Aaron Probyn for Case Furniture, made from agglomerated cork with a warm, grippy feel. The smart part is the build: a central hub and a magnetic outer ring. Keep the ring close for smaller pots, shift it outward when a wider dish or tray needs support. The two pieces can separate and rejoin, so it adjusts to whatever lands on the table next.
