Sori Yanagi (1915-2011) was a renowned Japanese industrial designer and pioneer of Japan’s post WWII modern design movement. The son of Soetsu Yanagi, who founded the Japanese folk crafts mingei movement and the Japanese Folk Crafts Museum, Sori Yanagi went on to study art and architecture. An admirer of the work of Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, he started creating design objects that enhance the functionality of living spaces. In 1974, he began designing cutlery, ultimately establishing the Sori Yanagi brand. The company’s award-winning collection later expanded to include a variety of pots, pans, utensils and kitchen essentials, all designed with a timeless aesthetic and functional features meant to enhance everyday life.
