Description
Visible corner joints, diagonal braces, and the grain of yellow pine give the Crate Shelf its character. Designed by Jasper Morrison for Established & Sons, it develops the familiar wooden crate into open shelving for books, ceramics, and the objects you reach for every day.
The construction combines solid yellow pine with pine-veneered plywood, finished with wax that leaves the wood’s grain visible. Short cylindrical legs lift the cabinet from the floor, while the open back allows the wall behind it to remain part of the arrangement. The exposed joinery and braces make the construction easy to understand, with each detail serving a practical purpose.
Three proportions accommodate different rooms and collections. The low, wide No.1 divides storage into six compartments and provides a long surface for display. No.2 offers a medium-height format, while the taller No.3 brings more vertical storage to a narrower section of wall. Each model measures just under 13 inches deep, making it easy to place along a living room, dining room, or home office wall.
Felt foot pads are included. Assembly requires attaching the legs, with wall-fixing instructions provided in the manufacturer’s manual.
