Designed by Santa & Cole co-founders Nina Masó and Gabriel Ordeig Cole in 1985, La Bella Durmiente is a floor lamp conceived as an illuminated column. Its warm and cool color fields recall the geometric abstraction of Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg, producing a different composition when the lamp is switched on.
The shade is made from cardstock printed with pigmented inks using a Giclée process. A transparent laminate protects the printed surface, while tiered black-lacquered wood covers finish the top and base. Inside, an aluminum structure supports a transparent methacrylate tube and integrated LED module.
Originally produced with fluorescent lighting, the design returned in 2025 with LED technology while retaining its original dimensions. It is available in two heights: the 53.2-inch La Bella Durmiente Menor and the 70.8-inch standard model.
The smaller version produces 362 lumens, while the taller version produces 724 lumens. Both emit warm 2700K light and operate with a foot switch. Adjustable feet help level the lamp on uneven floors. The LED is included but not replaceable, and the lamp is approved only for indoor, dry locations.
