Designed by André Ricard in 2021, the Fontana Alta Floor Lamp brings the distinctive shape of his 1970 Fontana pendant closer to eye level. Its name refers to Lucio Fontana, the artist known for cutting through the surfaces of his canvases to turn them into three-dimensional works.
A tall metal stem rises from a compact circular base to support the lamp’s glossy white half-sphere shade. A horizontal opening divides the shade, allowing light to escape around its perimeter. Below, a translucent white methacrylate diffuser spreads the downward light and reduces glare.
At 62.2 inches high and 13.8 inches in diameter, Fontana Alta provides ambient lighting beside a sofa, in a living room corner, near a dining table, or in a hospitality setting. The dimmer is positioned at the top of the lamp for easy adjustment.
The current American version uses three dimmable E26 LED bulbs. Santa & Cole recommends 7.8W, 2700K bulbs, which are not included. Dimmable bulbs are required for the lamp’s integrated dimmer to function correctly.
Fontana Alta is made in Spain and intended exclusively for indoor, dry-location use.
