The Uaigong clock features a minimalistic design that is reminiscent of the Italian style, while the red and gold colors pay tribute to the Chinese tradition. The name “Uaigong” is spelled exactly as the Mandarin word is pronounced in Italian, further emphasizing the connection between the two cultures. Davide Tonizzo aimed to create a cultural bridge between China and Italy, both renowned for their skilled craftsmanship, by designing the Uaigong clock. This modern interpretation of the floor pendulum clock, commonly referred to as the ‘grandfather’ clock, was inspired by the Mandarin word for maternal grandfather, Wàigong.

The Uaigong clock is a beautiful representation of the collaboration between two countries, and it’s a testament to the power of bringing together diverse perspectives and traditions to create something truly unique.
