Designed by architects Enric Sòria and Jordi Garcés in 1974, Sylvestrina translates the familiar form of an oil lamp into a cordless rechargeable light. Its name refers to Silvestre, a fisherman from the Costa Brava whose tall, lean figure informed the lamp’s narrow proportions.
A transparent Pyrex glass tube surrounds a white translucent diffuser, while the battery is concealed inside the small circular metal base. The lamp itself measures 13 inches high and only 4.4 inches across, allowing it to fit on a dining table, bedside table, bookshelf, restaurant table, or narrow console without taking up much surface area.
The glass tube also operates the light. Press it downward once for full output, again for half output, and a third time to switch the lamp off. The included 1W LED produces a very warm 2200K light, with 55 lumens at full intensity and 30 lumens at the lower setting. This output is intended for atmospheric illumination rather than reading or concentrated task lighting.
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides approximately seven hours of light at full intensity or up to 14 hours at half intensity. Place the lamp on the included contact charger for approximately five hours to restore a full charge. Indicator lights on the charger show charging progress and remaining battery capacity.
Choose a Glossy Black or Glossy White base. Both versions include the same transparent glass shade, internal diffuser, LED light source, contact charging base, USB cable, power adapter, and regional plug.
The current manufacturer documentation limits Sylvestrina to indoor use, although its IP44 rating and damp-location classification allow it to be used in suitable interior areas where occasional moisture may be present. It should not be left outdoors or exposed directly to rain or water.
