Carved from a solid block of white Morwad marble, the mortar features subtle textures that give the material its distinctive character. The cast iron ball boasts a golden brass finish, adding a glamorous touch to the design. To use, simply roll the ball in the mortar to grind spices or herbs. Born in Tunisia in 1959, British designer Tom Dixon moved to the UK in 1963. A self-taught designer, he became well-known in the mid ‘80s thanks to a series of welded furniture made of found and salvaged materials.
