Description
Italian designer Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba believes “irony is a serious matter,” considering his professional work today as a mere continuation of childhood imagination and creativity past. Created for Seletti, Sending Animals embodies this spirit in a series of playful wooden cabinets and shelves. The rough, angular aesthetic of a traditional shipping crate pairs well with the each piece that subtly mimics the life-size form of one of three different farm animals: a cow, pig, or goose. The largest by far, the cow-shaped cabinet offers just as much utility as the farm animal itself. A flat “back” makes the piece suitable as a buffet or credenza while three separate doors open to the spacious, raw wooden interior lined with storage shelves. It’s perfect for storing your spare plates or even bar glasses, with a drop-down prep table for mixing fancy drinks. Just like we make eat beef, drink milk, and make leather to make use of every part of our cattle, no space is wasted in this unique buffet beast; even the legs and head offer additional shelving.
