The Pidät STOP Doorstop takes a rather ordinary household object and gives it considerably more thought than anyone expected. Designed by Studio Gorm, its low, tapered form can wedge beneath a door from any direction, while the integrated rope makes it easy to pick up and move.
STOP is made in Portugal by a shoe sole manufacturer using synthetic rubber mixed with RCS-certified post-industrial recycled shoe sole grind. The small flecks visible throughout the surface aren’t decorative additions, but remnants of shoe sole production given another useful life. The rope is made from GRS-certified 100% recycled polyester.
Available in Maroon, Petrol, Natural Tan, and Pebble Grey, STOP measures 5.75 inches in diameter and just 1.5 inches high. Practical, pleasingly chunky, and unexpectedly good-looking for something whose entire job is stopping a door.
