Description
The Piccolo Trinciante brings together seven of the tools Berti considers most useful for preparing food and serving it at the table. Five forged knives are joined by a carving fork and sharpening steel, with every piece fitted into its own position inside a wooden presentation case.
The set covers a surprisingly broad range of kitchen work. It includes a slicing knife for ham and other thin cuts, bread knife, chef’s knife, roast knife, straight paring knife, carving fork, and sharpening steel. Instead of replacing a drawer full of highly specialized tools, this is a compact working set for the jobs that come up most often.
Each piece has a satin-finished forged blade and glossy handle. Choose Cream Boxwood, horn-effect Cornotech, Natural Horn, Black Methacrylate, or Red Methacrylate. The different materials give the same Plenum knife design very different personalities, from traditional wood and horn to saturated contemporary color.
The wooden case measures almost 19 inches wide and keeps the blades separated, protected, and easy to identify. Berti recommends hand washing and immediate drying, particularly for wood and natural horn handles. Handmade in Scarperia, Italy, a Tuscan town with a centuries-old knife-making tradition.
