Description
This is one of those objects that looks almost absurd at first glance—and then immediately makes sense. The Jack Portable Light takes the familiar shape of a children’s jack and scales it up into a soft, glowing presence that feels equally at home indoors or outside. The form is bold but friendly, graphic without being loud. You don’t need to justify it in a room; it just sits there and works.
What makes it genuinely useful is that it’s not precious. You can move it around, lean it slightly, place it on grass, concrete, or a table, and it still feels intentional. The light itself is warm and even, with a dimmer that lets you shift from ambient glow to something a bit more practical. Rechargeable and weather-resistant, it’s clearly meant to be used, not admired from a distance.
Designed by Tom Dixon, Jack sits somewhere between sculpture and tool—but without making a big deal about either. It’s playful, yes, but also surprisingly grounding. A light you’ll move around more than you expect, and miss when it’s not there.
