Description
Handle with Care is a cautionary teapot that brings attention to its hot and safe surfaces. The bold design features a clothes-iron-style handle in firetruck red. More than reminding the user not to grab for caffeine in the morning, the plastic handle gives the user a comfortable, non-slippery component to grip. Part of a collection, the Dutch teapot echoes classic Chinese design and was made in Shenzhen, China, where many items are copied for the mass market. Highlighting what gets changed in a “copy,” the collection strives to bring attention to the creative decisions that go into making all copycats and to show that unoriginality can be inspiring, too. The group of designs was exhibited at Today Art Museum, Beijing, and OCT Art and Design Gallery in 2013, and many of the final products are available on GSelect today.
