The Canvas Chair, designed by Børge Mogensen in 1970, was his understated answer to the flashy, experimental furniture of the time. Instead of decoration, he focused on structure—using solid oak and suspended canvas to create a chair that’s both visually direct and surprisingly comfortable. Everything here has a purpose: the round wooden bars support the seat and back, while the exposed canvas brings texture and ease.
This is Mogensen at his most distilled—natural materials, clear lines, and a design that feels as fresh today as it did five decades ago. The chair works just as well in a relaxed living room as it does in a hotel lobby or creative studio. Available in natural or black finishes with matching canvas options, and an optional cushion in leather or fabric, the Canvas Chair offers a grounded presence without trying too hard.
It’s one of the last pieces Mogensen ever designed. And now, finally back in production, it’s ready to live in the present.
