Description

A broad, shallow shade spreads over the Dou Floor Lamp’s tall, tapered base, with hand-braided rattan covering both parts. Made by Copenhagen-based Ferm Living, this natural rattan floor lamp carries the weave from floor level to the shade’s edge. An iron structure supports the form inside, while small openings between the strands let light filter through.

At a little over four feet tall, Dou works beside a low lounge chair or sofa. The shade measures almost twenty-eight inches across, so allow room for its overhang even though the base takes up less floor space. Small differences in the handwork give each lamp slight variations in color and shape.

A foot switch on the sand-colored fabric cord puts the on/off control within reach. The US version requires one E26 LED bulb, up to 12 watts, purchased separately. The lamp includes its shade, base, and cord and is intended for indoor, dry-location use.
