Ross McBride, born in northeastern America in 1962, is a renowned designer with a diverse career spanning graphic design, product design, and interior design. He studied graphic design at the California Institute of the Arts, graduating in 1985, before moving to Japan to further his studies at Japan University. There, he joined the Igarashi Studio, working under the esteemed Takenobu Igarashi. In 1991, McBride founded Ross Design, initially focusing solely on graphic design. However, in 2000, the company evolved into Normal Co. Ltd., expanding into product design, interior design, and furniture accessories. In 2006, McBride launched the watch brand Normal Timepieces, which has since gained international acclaim. The brand is sold at approximately 100 locations worldwide, including prestigious retailers such as Shinjuku Isetan, Matsuya Ginza Design Collection, London Design Museum, and MoMA, as well as numerous pop-up locations. McBride’s work has earned numerous accolades, including the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award (Germany), the Tokyo DB2003 Best Installation Award, and three Good Design Awards, showcasing his influence and innovation in the world of design.
