AWATSUJI design was established by Misa Awatsuji in 1995. The all-female design firm is led by the founder along with her sister, Maki Awatsuji. After studying graphic design at the Tama Art University in Tokyo, Misa Awatsuji completed a master’s degree in design at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Since 2014, she has been a professor at the Joshibi University of Art and Design. Maki Awatsuji studied interior design at Tama Art University and joined AWATSUJI design in 1998. The design firm’s portfolio includes a variety of projects, from graphic design to product design, packaging, and branding. Product designs include wall and table clocks for the renowned Japanese brand Lemnos.
