You gotta hand it to good product designers: they can make even an ordinary object look like an artwork. Take the Reality Hand Hook collection, for example. Designed by Harry Allen for Areaware, this series blends sculpture and function in bold products that never blend into the background. The collection features four casts of the designer’s hand. As they recreate different hand gestures, the items provide a fresh twist on the concept of a vase, shelf, and hook. Made from marble, resin, glass, and stainless steel, the Bestow, C’mere, Grab, and Offer hands come with wall-mounting hardware for easy installation. Bestow also comes with an included glass vial and metal cup, so it can be used either as a vase or as a candlestick holder.
