Sophie Conran’s trowel for Burgon & Ball is made for that kind of momentum.
The stainless steel head is mirror polished and nicely deep, so it carries a decent load of soil without the spill on the way to the pot. The curved backstops give you more control when you scoop, and they help the trowel stay steady in tighter spaces. The FSC beech handle is waxed and smooth in the hand, finished with a brass ferrule that feels sturdy and clean.
