Description
Designed by Tom Dixon in 2016, the Slab Desk is a compact solid-oak work desk with two useful details built directly into the top: a cable opening at the rear and a long machined groove for pens, pencils, and small desk accessories. The idea takes cues from the traditional school desk, replacing the old inkwell with something suited to laptops, monitors, and chargers.
At 47.2 inches wide and 23.6 inches deep, Slab provides a substantial work surface without requiring the footprint of a large executive desk. The solid oak top and angled legs have softened edges, while the matte lacquer protects the wood without covering its grain. It works particularly well in a home office, bedroom, study, hotel room, or anywhere a full-size work surface is needed within a relatively compact area.
Three finishes give the same construction distinctly different appearances. Natural Oak keeps the wood light, Fumed Oak deepens it to a rich brown through a fuming process, and Black Oak gives the desk a dark matte finish while retaining the texture of the oak beneath. The desk requires assembly and is made in Lithuania.
