Description
Designed by New York-based, award-winning designer Nao Tamura, this Issey Miyake watch puts a more nuanced focus on the passage of time. The concept of the ‘1/6’ mechanical watch also explores the idea of the timepiece as a tool, featuring a complex dial design with many markers. The name references to the movement’s six beats per second. It’s a nod to mechanical watches and their ability to make every moment more focused through the second hand’s motion. “In this era where time seems to fleet away as devices like smart phones have become a necessity in our everyday life, I wanted to design a watch that we can surely feel the time ticking,” explains Nao Tamura.
Featuring fine markers separated in sections, the dial of this Issey Miyake watch highlights the tool-like concept of the design. A creatively placed crown at the 6 o’clock mark enhances the effect further. The longer second hand moves over the outer fine markings that start at 12 and end at 6 o’clock, before sweeping over the outer markers on the left side of the dial. The elegant movement and the design of the markers represent “time ticking”, putting an emphasis on the flow of time. This Issey Miyake watch comes with a 43mm case and a mechanical movement with 24 jewels. Made with elegant monochrome palettes, the 1/6 watch features black or gray cases and matching leather or Milanese bracelets.
