Shin Azumi was born in 1965 in the Japanese city of Kobe. After earning his MA from the Royal College of Art in 1994, he initiated his career with the design unit 'AZUMI.' By 2005, he launched his own design office, 'a studio,' in London, later relocating to Tokyo in 2016. Azumi is currently a professor at Hosei University's Faculty of Engineering and Design. His studio collaborates with leading global brands such as lapalma, Magis, Desalto, Fredericia, Tefal, and Authentics. Azumi's innovative designs have been honored with several awards, including the Blueprint 100% Design Award and FX International Design Award's “Product of the Year.” Additionally, he has been a jury member for prestigious design awards like the IF Design Award in Germany. His work is featured in prominent museums worldwide, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in the UK and the Stedelijk Museum in Holland.
