Lars Beller Fjetland

Norwegian designer Lars Beller Fjetland founded Beller Design in 2011 while studying at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design. Based in Bergen, he creates furniture, lighting, and home accessories with a particular interest in the properties of natural materials. His collaborators include HAY, Hem, Architectmade, and Bottega Ghianda. For Hem’s Drifted stools, he pairs cork seats with solid oak frames, using the cork’s warmth and flexibility as an alternative to conventional upholstery. A more playful side appears in his Kin collection for Architectmade: small wooden figures whose interchangeable, tilting heads convey curiosity, thoughtfulness, or shyness. Made from walnut, mahogany, and maple, the individual characters can be grouped to represent different families and friendships, with a slight adjustment of the head changing the relationship between them.
