Born in the Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, Kanae Tsukamoto studied at the Kanazawa College of Art. Following her graduation, she worked at Mitsubishi Electric and the GK Design Group. She continued her post-graduate studies abroad, studying at the University of Art and Design Helsinki before completing her master’s degree at the Royal College of Art in London. She opened the Kanae Design Labo studio in 1999 in Tokyo. The studio’s projects include tableware and home accessories as well as furniture, lighting, appliances, and packaging. Kanae Tsukamoto’s work has received prestigious design awards. These include the coveted iF Design Award, Red Dot Award, Good Design Award, and the competition grand prize of RSA in UK. The designer currently lives and works in Kyoto.
