Rome-based designer Francesca Borelli works in conceptual product and furniture design, focusing on the technical resolution of material into object. Her practice is grounded in an analytical, technical process. Projects often begin with an intensive drawing phase dedicated to resolving the structural limits inherent in the chosen material, treating color saturation as a key factor in visual weight. She approaches furniture as conceptual objects, actively taking on projects that test the boundaries of scale, assembly, and domestic efficiency. Her current work explores the use of recycled composite materials and minimal fasteners to develop furniture forms defined by their efficient footprint. Borelli splits her time between her base in Rome and her Master's studies in Florence. She works out of a university workshop and a small, dedicated studio space focused entirely on technical prototyping and scale model construction.
