Designer
Born in Moutier, Switzerland, in 1988, Dimitri Bähler studied at ECAL in Lausanne, with an exchange semester at Design Academy Eindhoven, before opening his studio in Biel in 2014. His practice spans lighting, furniture, ceramics, and installations. Material research and prototyping guide his work, which ranges from individual pieces to designs for industrial production. Bähler has collaborated with Established & Sons, HAY, Muuto, and Moustache. His Cho Light for Established & Sons places a shade of Japanese washi paper on a flexible carbon fiber rod, allowing the lamp to sway gently when touched. His VPTC ceramics collection explores surface and texture through carving, digital impressions, and glazes applied to simple volumes. The collection received the Grand Prize at Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk in 2016, and Bähler won a Swiss Design Award in 2023.
