Antoni de Moragas Gallissà

Antoni de Moragas Gallissà (1913–1985) was a Spanish architect and designer and one of the key figures in the renewal of modern architecture in postwar Spain. Born in Barcelona, he studied architecture at the Barcelona School of Architecture and later became a founding member of Grupo R, a group of architects that helped reintroduce modernist ideas to Catalan architecture. Beyond architecture, Moragas had a strong interest in industrial design and often designed the furniture, lighting and architectural details for his own projects. In 1960, he became the founding president of the Industrial Design Association of FAD in Barcelona, playing an important role in promoting contemporary design in Spain. His work combined rationalist principles with an expressive use of materials and a distinctly human approach to modernism. Among his best-known designs is the Moragas table lamp, originally created in 1957 for his own office and today produced by Santa & Cole.
