Andrea Anastasio

Designer

Rome-born designer Andrea Anastasio came to objects by way of philosophy. After university he spent long stretches in India cataloguing Islamic architecture and studying craft techniques, a fieldwork habit that still shapes his studio practice in Rome. Back home he began testing how everyday materials can shift meaning when they’re cut, knotted, or re-wired. The approach led to lighting for Foscarini—the thread-wrapped Filo pendant and the ceramic-frieze Fregio—and to furniture and accessories for Et al. and other Italian makers. Each project starts with hands-on manipulation of cords, shards, or clay before moving to industrial tooling; the goal is a piece that carries both the trace of the hand and the rigour of production. Anastasio’s work has appeared at Lane Crawford Hong Kong and in the 2023 retrospective Binary Codex, which travelled through several Indian museums.
