Description
Cord is Tom Dixon doing an outdoor rug without the usual “outdoor rug” compromises. It’s handwoven from 100% recycled ocean plastic, so the texture feels closer to a corded mat than a soft pile—springy underfoot, grippy, and unfussy about wet feet, sunscreen, spilled drinks, or a door that’s constantly opening and closing.
The weave is tight and graphic, with a scalloped edge that gives the rectangle a finished outline without turning it into a pattern. It works outside, obviously, but it’s even better in the in-between zones: a glass-walled living room, an entry where shoes happen, a kitchen area that wants something tough but not utilitarian-looking.
