Originally designed as an entry in the International Design Competition held by the Museum of Modern Art, the Fiberglass Shell Chair soon became an icon and the face of mid-century design. Driven by the goal of reviving the North American Modernist movement and the Californian lifestyle, Modernica started to create its line of chairs in 2000, using the original machines and crafting techniques. Introduced to a new generation, the Case Study® Upholstered Arm Shell Dowel celebrates the iconic aesthetic of the original and adds a touch of contemporary flair. The contrasting colors provide a fresh take on the classic, while the armchair design pays homage to the original. The dowel base comes with black or chrome wire and you can choose between walnut or maple wood legs. Handmade by Modernica in Los Angeles, USA.
