Maison Tirot has been making wooden toy boats in Romagné, Brittany since 1946. Founded by Francis Tirot, the workshop began with a simple idea: a wooden toy boat that children could actually sail. Nearly eighty years later, the company still makes its boats in Brittany, preserving a craft passed down through four generations.
Each Maison Tirot boat is handcrafted and hand-painted, using French wood selected close to the workshop. The range includes bath boats and pond yachts inspired by maritime tradition, made for play, collecting, and passing on. These are real children’s toys, not display-only miniatures; they are designed to go on the water and meet French and European safety standards.
Since 2021, Augustin Hubert has led the company with the support and mentorship of Nicolas Tirot. Maison Tirot holds France’s EPV, or Living Heritage Company, label, a recognition given to companies with outstanding craft and industrial expertise. In a market crowded with disposable toys, the brand offers something slower and more durable: boats with clear materials, visible handwork, and a direct connection to French seaside culture.
