Established by designer Hisanori Masuda in 1997, Chushin Kobo is a traditional cast iron workshop and studio. The workshop’s name translates to “iron heart.” Based in the Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, a region renowned for the Yamagata casting technique, the workshop produces cast iron and metal objects that combine age-old craftsmanship, Japanese minimalism, and contemporary design. The studio’s collection includes cast iron kettles and teapots as well as aluminum and bronze products. All of them pay homage to traditional crafting techniques. Ultimately, the Chushin Kobo range aims to provide the perfect tools to celebrate the character of the tea ceremony in the modern age.
