Berlin studio Kenko machines recycled stainless-steel rods to 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 1.5 kg, and 2 kg, then sleeves them in pale maple and caps each end with gold-plated brass rings.

Run your thumb along the tight grain: maple stays cool to the touch and resists denting. The 1 kg size measures 8.7″ L × 1.8″ Diam or 22 cm × 4.5 cm Diam, with lengths stretching to 12.6″ L (32 cm) on the 2 kg pair. Tiny rubber pads protect floors when you set them down.
