Description
18 in of hand-blown Murano glass turns LEDs into a quiet, room-softening glow. Designed by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba for Foscarini, the Soffio table lamp (“breath” in Italian) pairs a clear outer bell with an opaline inner sleeve, capturing light the way morning fog catches sun.
Nothing breaks the silhouette: the dimmer hides on the cord, the electronics tuck into the base, and the glass narrows to a slim neck that feels more carafe than lamp. The result is a large-scale piece—just under a foot wide—that still reads as background architecture, happy to sit on a console, low bookcase, or bedroom dresser without shouting for attention.
Dial the integrated LED from a night-light shimmer to full reading brightness; the twin glass layers keep colour temperature warm and shadow-free at every setting. A matte-white powder-coated base anchors the form and protects surfaces from heat.
Place Soffio alone to mark a corner with gentle uplight, or echo a pair across a sideboard for a balanced wash—either way, the lamp delivers the calm, refined atmosphere of a great supporting actor that knows exactly when to shine.
