Created by Swedish designer Jonas Wagell, the Peek Table Lamp offers a thoughtful approach to what has become a common design archetype. Simple powder-coated steel and aluminum construction lend themselves to the modest upright form, while a concave base provides everyday storage for jewelry, keys, stationary, etc. Yet the subtle bend behind the lampshade gives Peek just the right dose of whimsy to balance the subdued design. “Although the form derives from a functional requirement I believe it’s important that the lamp has personality and expression,” says Wagell. “I strive to create simplistic objects and products that are intuitive and easy to understand…The form is reduced to the necessities and the expression becomes iconic.”
