Description

The Monster Head is part of Lukas Göthman’s ongoing exploration of small sculptural forms, produced here in collaboration with Skultuna. Each piece is cast in polished brass from an original clay model — a process that preserves the uneven surface, fast gestures, and slightly offbeat expression that define Göthman’s work. It’s intentionally rough, closer to a studio fragment than a refined figurine, which is exactly what gives it presence.

The scale makes it easy to place on a desk, bookshelf, or side table. It works as a standalone object or alongside other small pieces, especially if you appreciate objects that carry the imprint of the artist’s hand rather than a polished, manufactured look.

Skultuna’s brass casting gives the form weight and a warm metallic finish, and like all brass objects, it will darken over time unless polished. For collectors of contemporary sculpture or design-driven accessories, this edition sits at the intersection of art object and decorative piece without trying to be either too neatly.

    Lukas Göthman

Lukas Göthman Stockholm-based artist Lukas Göthman works with text, colour, and thick letterforms drawn from his nightly journals, turning short phrases into painted objects with real physical presence. His basement studio on Banérgatan—part workshop, part archive—shapes the work’s mix of humour, grit, and improvisation. Themes loop between memory, travel, and small fictional detours; the honey badger, a recurring stand-in for fearles...
