Description
The Lorenz Static table clock designed by Richard Sapper is an iconic timepiece, it is conceived to break away from traditional static forms, introducing a dynamic element. The base is cleverly positioned in an unexpected spot, making the clock appear as if it’s floating above the surface. The clock face and glass extend outward, angling upwards as though reaching out to the viewer. This unique design ensures that the clock always returns to an upright position, embodying the stability suggested by its name. The Static clock begins its life as a solid 316L stainless steel cylindrical block weighing approximately 2 lb. The final form features a rounded body with a flat section where the clock stands. A counterweight at the rear ensures the clock remains upright. The dial, crafted from 2846 aluminum alloy, is pad-printed on either a black or white matte background to minimize reflections. Using high-quality inks from Marabu©, the design guarantees durability and resistance to fading for at least ten years.
The movement is produced at UTS, one of Germany’s most prestigious factories, the clock movement features a quartz control system regulated by a Siemens© device, ensuring precise timekeeping. The 1.5V MN21 battery powers the clock for a guaranteed duration of one year. The gift box for the Static clock is a faithful reproduction of the original 1960 version, crafted from black leather to hold the clock vertically when stored. Handcrafted by a leather expert in Milan, the box boasts a “Saffiano” leather finish and includes a small carrying strap.
