As part of Design Memorabilia’s Italian collection, the iconic Hands Up Bowl created in 1998 by the innovative Italian designer Tobia Scarpa is reproduced here not in silver like the original, but in white epoxy-coated steel. The designer’s work has received recognition both in Italy and outside its borders. The ‘Soriana’ chair won a Compasso d’Oro award in 1969, while the ‘Libertà’ chair is exhibited at the Louvre in Paris. The distinctive shape of the Hands Up Bowl reminds of a modern sculpture and is complemented by the fundamental functionality of the object, creating a striking piece that stands out on a kitchen table or shelf, especially if used with boldly colored fruit to create a powerful tone contrast. The bowl is easy to clean with a damp and non-abrasive cloth, but contact with water should be minimized.
