Studio Job was founded in 2000 by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel. The two designers had met as students at the Design Academy Eindhoven and have been working together ever since. Strikingly creative and unconventional, the studio makes vibrant, ornamental, opulent, or even cartoon-like objects. The two designers not only take inspiration from popular, classical or contemporary design and art, but also aim to eliminate conceptual boundaries between different ideas to create something new and fresh. Like a finely tuned symphony, the products have a deeply familiar yet particular look and feel. To produce the designs, Studio Job employs an army of craftsmen that includes furniture makers and sculptors as well as cast bronze, stained-glass, 3D printing, and laser cutting specialists. Studio Job’s work has been exhibited in prestigious locations, including at MoMA, Guggenheim, Victoria & Albert Museum, and Groninger Museum. The studio’s designs are now a part of permanent collections in more than 40 museums around the world.
