Stefan Scholten

Stefan Scholten is a Dutch designer known for his precise use of color, reductionist style, and hands-on approach to the design process. A graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, he has been a defining figure in contemporary Dutch design since the late 1990s. Scholten's work spans furniture, textiles, and industrial design, always balancing functionality with a distinct visual identity. Over the years, he has collaborated with brands such as HAY, Moroso, Maharam, Cappellini, and 1616 / arita japan. His designs, including the Relay Chaise Longue for Artifort—used daily at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for over two decades—are made to endure both in form and purpose.
