Furniture, product and lighting designer Konstantin Grcic trained as a cabinet maker at The John Makepeace School in Dorset, England, before completing his studies in Design at the Royal College of Art in London. He founded his own studio in 1991 in Munich. Under the name of Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID), the practice has completed an array of designs for renowned companies around the world, including Mattiazzi, Nespresso, Muji, and Vitra. From 2004, the studio has also created a series of limited-edition designs for Galerie Kreo in Paris. The designer’s distinctive pared-down style blends clear forms and playful details with cues from the world of architecture and the history of design. Konstantin Grcic’s work has been awarded the prestigious Compasso d`Oro in 2001 and 2011, with works also included in the permanent collections of museums such as MoMA, NYC and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.
